Job Description
– Reporting to the Seed and Fertilizers Division Manager, the Cereals Seeds Technician has the following functions:
– Coordinate the implementation of Cereals Seed production activities and plans both on RAB Stations and among private producers;
– Actively participate in the development of joint annual plans for the production and supply of adequate seed for the different categories of seed for Cereal Crops in the country;
– Ensure adequate planning, timely requisition and procurement of materials and equipment required to support the activities of seed production;
– Ensure that all the required materials, tools and equipment are timely put in place and undertake the implementation of plans for EGS seeds production;
– Contribute to the development of knowledge tools and information systems on seed, Cereals varieties and seed-related emergency assistance;
– Conduct training and mentoring of cereals seeds producers in new techniques, environmental considerations and other productivity-related areas all aimed at production of quality and quantity seeds;
– Develop and disseminate guidelines for cereals local seeds production to increase seed productivity and quality;
– Mobilize local companies and seed multipliers to invest in cereals seeds production;
– Ensure regular monitoring and provision of technical support to local private seed producers to promote the quality of seed produced;
– Ensure the implementation of activities, projects and assets management that promote the delivery of adequate quality seed in the country and that public finances and goods are well managed;
– Undertaking any other duties as assigned by the supervisor and other relevant authorities;
– Preparation of weekly, quarterly, annual and other reports concerning Cereals Seeds production activities as may be required;
